Product Details

Here is a candy box with lid that was made by the Indiana Glass Company between 1950 to 1960. Indiana Glass Co. originally marketed it as a "candy box” not a candy dish. There is no makers marks on the candy box anywhere, however it is the Concord pattern that was used by the Indiana Glass Company. In 1957, the Lancaster Glass Corporation purchased the Indiana Glass Company and that is about the time that this candy box was produced. I could not find the pattern in the Indiana Glass Co.’s parttern files or in the Lancaster Glass Co.’s pattern files. It was not uncommon, when a company was sold that the company’s molds would go to the buyer along with the company name. Then the buying company would use the glass molds and at times the old companies trademark. It has an octagonal shape with thick glass walls. The thickness and clarity of the glass would suggest that it could be crystal glass; however, I would not say that it is crystal glass or lead crystal glass. The dish is in good condition with one minor chip on one of the 8 corners of the lid. The chip is quite hard to see in the photo and does not detract from the appearance of the candy box. Other than that, it is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, fleabites, nicks, repairs, or stains.
